Tone of voice

DOL speaks like someone who knows exactly how good the food is, and doesn’t need to tell you twice. The tone is quiet, confident, and never loud. It lets the bowl do the talking.

Principle

Say less

DOL doesn’t over-explain. Every line of copy should feel considered — like it was written by someone who chose each word deliberately and cut the rest. If it can be shorter, make it shorter.

Let It Linger

The best DOL copy is the kind that surfaces hours later. Write lines that are easy to read once and hard to forget. If it disappears the moment you finish reading, rewrite it.

State, don't sell

DOL doesn’t invite or persuade. It states. Write with the confidence of someone who already knows the food is good — because it is. No exclamation marks, no warm greetings, no urgency.
